The second Advent Shed revealed.....water candles. These stunning candles are easy to make and would create a great centerpiece for the Christmas dinner table. Here's how to make your own:
You Will Need
- Bucket of cold water
- Old Plates or Bowls
- Candle Scraps
- One or more candles
- Rubber Gloves
- Wax Dye (optional)
This project does require a few safety/mess preventions.
*Wax is very hard to clean up from counters. In order to help with cleanup, use as few tools as possible, and cover your work space in newspaper. Wear gloves to protect your hands.
*Wax is flammable, for this reason, it's very important that you don't use any setting higher than medium on your cooker when heating the wax.
1. Melt the candle scraps in a saucepan and add Wax dye to achieve the desired colour
2. Glue candles onto an old plate or bowl, we used plastic bowld
3. With a ladle poor the molten candle wax into the bowl around the candle
4. Whilst still hot dunk the bowl in the water and you the amazing 'splash' will be set in candle wax around your candle.
