Brief Plot Synopsis

“Lord, what fools these mortals be!”

To honour Duke Theseus’ wedding, a group of rustic artisans, and would-be thespians, rehearse a play. Meanwhile, feuding lovers flee the city and seek solace in an enchanted forest alive with warring fairies and the meddling sprite Puck. As the clash between the fairy king and queen, Oberon and Titania, catches everyone in its cross-fire, confusion abounds and
makes asses of them all.

“The course of true love never did run smooth.”

This supernatural comedy of mischievous fairies, confused lovers and rude mechanicals is an intoxicating tale of clarity found from chaos as tangled love gives way to happily ever afters.

Acclaimed for their stylish and accessible productions The Lord Chamberlain’s Men have spent the last 15 years wowing audiences up and down the country in their trademark style. Continually raising the bar for standards in open air theatre they have gone from strength to strength.

Peter Stickney, Artistic Director, says, “To reach our 15th birthday is no mean feat. We work hard to bring you the best production every year but really the pleasure is ours, we feel privileged to be able to tour to the stunning locations that we tour to and meet the wonderful people that we meet on the way. Reaching this milestone is a testament to the great work of the many actors and creatives who have worked with us, but we truly couldn’t do any of this without the support of our wonderful venues and amazing audiences who make this such a joy. We played to almost 30,000 people across the summer last year and we hope that this year will see us entertain even more. I really hope that you enjoy our magical production of this timeless classic and here’s to the next 15!”
