Enjoy a private view of some of the treasures housed within Woburn Abbey’s extensive library collection. The viewing will take place in the Holland Library, normally only open 3 days a week and used as the family’s principal drawing room.
See rare, early printed books, beautifully illustrated many with hand-coloured plates, covering a vast array of subjects including natural history, biography, travel, as well as private publications about Woburn Abbey’s history and collections.
The private view will be led by the Curating Team.You are also invited to take a self-guided tour around the Abbey and our Humphry Repton exhibition featuring the Red Book for Woburn Abbey.
Then enjoy a delicious afternoon tea, including, a selection of sandwiches, homemade cakes and scones with clotted cream and jam, a pot of Suki tea or coffee of your choice.
You are more than welcome to stay and explore the Gardens at your own leisure.
13:00 - Arrive at the gift shop where you will be directed to the Duchess tearoom to enjoy a hot drink on arrival.
13:30 - Led by our Curator, Matthew Hirst, to the private family room, the Holland Library for a talk and presentation about the library and it’s fascinating collection.
14:30 - Afternoon tea served in the Bedford Room. Please inform us at least 48hrs in advance of the event if you have any dietary requirements.
15:30 - Free to enjoy the Abbey and Gardens at your leisure. Please note last entry to the Abbey is 4pm.
