Did you spot Woburn Abbey and Gardens?

If you were watching ‘Rococo: Travel, Pleasure, Madness’, a three part series broadcast by the BBC at the end of January, you may well have spotted some of our collection of paintings by Canaletto. The first episode, ‘Travel’, discussed the Grand Tour, visitors to Venice and the art they purchased there as a reminder of their travels. Our set of 24 views of Venice by Canaletto were commissioned by Lord John Russell, later 4th Duke of Bedford, during his Grand Tour visit to the famous city.

There’s still time to tune in for this next one. Three chefs from across the Woburn Estate took part in the filming of an episode of ‘Jamie and Jimmy’s Friday Night Feast’ last summer. Throughout the series Jamie Oliver and Jimmy Doherty have set themselves the challenge of trying to bring back a traditional, regional delicacy that is dying out as they travel around the UK. The episode broadcast tonight focuses on the famous Bedfordshire Clanger. Our chefs, Olivier Bertho, Jason Wong and Craig Rennie, were invited to attend an event to taste the new clanger recipes in the hope they would consider including the clanger on their menus, at Woburn Safari Park, The Duchess’ Tea Room at Woburn Abbey and at Woburn Golf Club. Visit the Channel 4 website for more information or tune in at 8pm tonight.
