New Garden’s Development at Woburn Abbey - 18th February
The gardens at Woburn Abbey were part of a grand design by Humphrey Repton and other designers in the early 19th century. Known as the Pleasure Grounds, the design was never completed. Woburn Abbey and Woburn Safari Park – reopens with precautionary measures in place against foot and mouth disease - 6th August
Woburn Abbey and Deer Park and Woburn Safari Park have reopened following the latest news on the recent foot and mouth outbreak. Both attractions were closed to the public on Saturday, August 4th. This was to reduce the risk of the foot and mouth virus being brought onto the 3,000 acre estate.

On the night of 24th /25th September, three babies were born at Woburn Safari Park in Bedfordshire - a baby giraffe, which is the tallest of all the land mammals and twin baby marmosets, which is the smallest of all the primates. All babies are doing well and staff are delighted at the triple birth.

Rare Opportunity to see Lion Cubs as if in the Wild at Woburn - 17th February
There is a rare opportunity at Woburn Safari Park to see big cats interacting with each other as if they were in the wild. Four young lion cubs are making their debut this week and visitors will be able to see them enjoying the spring sunshine with their mother Tambi and getting up to mischief with the other lions in the 32 acre reserve.

50 Years On : A celebration of 50 years of visitors to Woburn Abbey 1955 – 2005 - 27th May
Woburn Abbey is celebrating 50 years of welcoming visitors to enjoy this year. Woburn was one of the first historic houses to open to visitors, and opened its doors on Good Friday 1955 with visitors paying 2 shillings each to see the house and its world famous art collection. Woburn Abbey soon became one of the UK’s leading tourist attractions.

Rare Baby Giraffe born at Woburn Safari Park - 27th May
A Rothschild giraffe, the most endangered of all the sub-species of giraffe, was born in April at Woburn Safari Park – unusually in broad daylight and in front of many surprised visitors who had come for a day out. Most animals tend to give birth at night in the safety of darkness so it was a rare and special experience for the staff – and passing visitors who saw the birth.

Racing Stripes – Woburn’s orphan zebra is hand reared at Thoroughbred stud - 27th May
In a story with a remarkable similarity to the children’s hit film about a zebra with aspirations to be a racehorse currently showing at cinemas around the country Racing Stripes, a little orphaned zebra foal from Woburn Safari Park has found a new home. The filly foal is being hand reared by the staff at the Bloomsbury stud at Woburn Abbey, alongside her companion another foal called Mercury until she is old enough to be returned to the herd of rare Grevy’s zebra at the Safari Park.

Shellshocked! - 27th May
Woburn Safari Park has responded to an international crisis to help rescue critically endangered turtles. The recent arrivals are three Malaysian Giant Pond Turtles, who were destined for the dining table in the Far East. They were part of a large consignment of turtles on board a boat which was intercepted by the authorities in Hong Kong.
