Life in a Noble Household new

Discover what it was like to work in a great Ducal household from the 17th to the 20th centuries. From the cook to the stationer, lamp-lighter, librarian and resident artists, not to mention the army of footmen, housemaids and gardeners employed in keeping the country house machine ticking along.

Following an illustrated lecture by the Curator and his Assistant, there will be an opportunity to view and handle some of the artefacts associated with Woburn Abbey’s domestic service.

Then enjoy a delicious 2 course lunch and explore the house and gardens at your leisure.

Order of the day:

10.30am - Arrive at the gift shop where you will be directed to the Duchess tearoom to enjoy a hot drink on arrival.

11.00am - Join the Curator and his Assistant for an illustrated lecture, followed by an opportunity to view and handle some of the artefacts associated with Woburn Abbey’s domestic service. 

12.00noon – Lunch served in the Duchess' Tea Room. Please inform us at least 48hrs in advance of the event if you have any dietary requirements.

1pm – Explore the Abbey at your leisure.

Guests are more than welcome to enjoy a stroll round the Woburn Abbey Gardens after exploring the Abbey.
