While we’re closed for the winter, our housekeeping team invites you behind-the-scenes for an exclusive glimpse into what it takes to complete Woburn Abbey’s annual ‘deep-clean’
Every room is cleaned from top to bottom, involving scaffolding, specialist vacuum cleaners and brushes, and a lot of time and energy! Ornate plasterwork, detailed giltwood carvings and fragile chandeliers all receive specialist attention.

Order of the day
10.30am – Join Simon Pestell, Head Housekeeper at Woburn Abbey, as he takes you on a tour round the Abbey, whilst it is closed to the general public. See how paintings are expertly dusted to ensure preservation for future generations, and observe the cleaning of porcelain, silver and silver-gilt plate. Simon will share his in-depth, specialist knowledge with you and answer your questions.
12.00noon – Enjoy a delicious two-course lunch, served to your table in the Lantern Room at the Sculpture Gallery, followed by tea and coffee.
Guests are more than welcome stay after their Abbey visit to enjoy a stroll round the Woburn Abbey Gardens.
