Now in its 7th year, the Woburn Abbey Garden Show is an important diary date for many keen gardeners. Set against the stunning backdrop of Woburn Abbey, ‘The Gardener’s Garden Show’ offers visitors the best location of any show in the UK, taking place within the 42 acres of Abbey Gardens.
Whether you are an enthusiastic horticulturist or you’re looking for inspiration, you’ll have an informative day out at the Woburn Abbey Garden Show. Enjoy an introduction to gardening, the opportunity to hone or learn new skills and purchase unique plants and garden items.
Her Grace, The Duchess Of Bedford will be officially opening the new waterfall over the Rockery. The Rockery was originally created as part of Humphry Repton’s plans for Woburn Abbey Gardens in the early 1800’s and fully restored in 2009 and in 2011 a Pavilion was added. This area will be completed with the addition of a waterfall.
Other show highlights include interesting demonstrations and Q&A sessions. Presenter Pippa Greenwood, a regular writer and blogger for BBC’s Gardener’s World Magazine and Martin Fish, Garden Writer and BBC Broadcaster, will share their expertise. New for 2016, Woburn Abbey is delighted to welcome members of the RHS Plant Advisory Committees, who will be offering advice and demonstrations throughout the weekend. Fleurette, florists of Bedford, will be coordinating our new Floral Beard competition.
BBC Three Counties Radio will be unveiling a show garden featuring an 1831 rustic temple, historically part of the Woburn Estate. In front of this structure, a biodiversity garden will be created by the Woburn Abbey Gardens Team in partnership with BBC Three Counties presenters and children from Eversholt Lower School.
RHS Gold Medal Winning and other renowned plant nurseries will be offering a range of rare and interesting plants. In addition, the retail experience will cover a wide variety of gardening products such as furniture, sculptures, tools and hardware. The Gift Hall has suppliers from across the UK, selling their various handmade crafts.
We are also delighted to be launching the first illustrated book about Woburn Abbey: The Park & Gardens by Keir Davidson, with a foreword by the Duchess of Bedford (£35, Pimpernel Press) at the show. Keir Davidson will be on hand for book-signing.
Also new for this year is 'Focus on Food Tourism' - an area of the show dedicated to independent food suppliers, showcasing the best of regional food and drink. Many producers in the Food Marquees will have their ‘low-in and free-from’ artisan products available to purchase.
Free guided garden tours are available with the RHS qualified Woburn Abbey Gardeners to give you an additional insight into the background running and recreation of the Humphry Repton landscape of the gardens.
