Studying and appreciation of roses with David Austin’s Rosarian Michael Marriott. You will look at the different types of roses, flower types, and learn the distinctive differences in their scent.
Find out more about the different types and varieties, and how to use them to best effect in your garden. How to care for them and keep them looking their best during the summer and autumn. The most common pests and diseases and how to treat them. There is a practical part to this study day which is held in the Rose Gardens of Woburn Abbey Gardens including the Rosarium Britanicum, restored and planted with David Austin Roses in 2017.
Michael Marriott, who will be leading this day, is Technical Manager and Senior Rosarian at David Austin Roses. He has over 30 years’ experience of rose growing and lifetime of general gardening. Authority on all matters relating to roses around the world, especially David Austin’s English Roses, including variety choice, all aspect of rose growing and rose garden design. He is a lecturer and writer on various aspects of roses.
Participants are welcome to bring along photographs of roses from their own garden if they would like Michael to identify them. He will also explain what to do if you have any problems with your own roses. If you would like to add new roses into your own garden, David Austin Roses will be available for sale on the day.
The course times are: Arrival 10am for 10.30am start, finish at 4pm.
